I'm in waiting mode…
I took a pregnancy test 4 days ago- negative.
I took a test 2 days ago- negative.
I took a test today- negative.
My period is due any day, so I'm losing hope for this month. I just want to be pregnant SO BAD.
Consolation-wise, I have 2 bottles of wine on standby in case the red tide shows up. Chardonay… and Pinot Grigio. :)
We have been battling viruses since last week. It all started when we came in contact with hand/foot/mouth disease at the gym that Monday. By Wednesday, the 1 year old had a little spot on the corner of her mouth, but since she's pushing 4 incisors through... I chalked it up to teething. I work Tuesday/Wednesday at the kids' preschool and by Thursday we realize that it's not just teething and I take the 1 year old and her brother to the doc. The 3 year old is acting listless and has a low grade fever.
I love having to call up the preschool to let them know we exposed the class to an infectious disease, is love the right word?
The baby gets a light case and it clears up by Wednesday of the following week.
This past Tuesday, the 7 year old wakes up and says he doesn't feel well, I make him go to school (if I kept my kids out every time they complained of a tummy ache, they'd attend half the year) and tell him to let his teacher know if he's still not feeling well later in the day. Grandma has been called in to watch the 1 year old… she looks recovered from hand/foot/mouth (or hoof and mouth disease as my dad likes to call it) but I want her to have an extra day out just to make sure. 2 kids to elementary school, 1 kid home with grandma, and 1 kid comes along with me to work.
I'm barely at work when the school nurse calls, so I call grandma to let her know and she heads off to pick up the 7 year old. Then, get this, 2 out of 7 of our toddlers show up for school that day. The other 5 children are all out with hand/foot/mouth and it was my child's fault! Ah well, there wasn't anything I could have done better… one little spot on the corner of my child's mouth is not enough to let me know she's ill.
Wednesday, the 7 year ol developed a fever since Tuesday evening and will need to be out again, and back comes grandma. Grandma (my husband's mom) lives 40 minutes away and she tries to be helpful, but we don't see eye to eye at all. It's a big deal to call her in and I usually try to do without. Take Tuesday, she came at 8:30 and I got home at 2… then she stayed through picking up the 5 year old at school… and stayed… and stayed all afternoon. I know this will happen and I'm grateful that she was available to watch the grandkids, but I lost nap time!
Thursday, more fever, husband comes home from work complaining of ailments.
Friday, 5 year old starts complaining of syptoms and I can see spots all over the 3 year old. AAAAHHH! I want to go to south FL for a quick vacation this long 3-day weekend.
My father says come over anyway… hmmm… hand/foot/mouth is not usually contagious for adults (I think this is because it's a super contagious childhood disease and most adults have already caught it in childhood). So, if the fever abates, we might go anyway! I won't travel with fevers, so here's hoping!
Also, am I bad in admitting that I enjoy sick days? I almost never get sick, so as this rages around my family, I'm healthy as can be. I relax the tv rules for the sickies, and everyone is more chilled out since they're not feeling well. I can cancel all our events, but still get out for me since I'm well! :)
